AZT Day 14 – Camping With The Boys

I’d made plans with my buddies Alex (Diva), Mikey and Danny to meetup at the Rogers Trough Trailhead at 8:00 AM, so I slept in until 7:00 AM. It was glorious. When I reached the trailhead the boys had just pulled up.

We planned a short hike up into the Superstitions to Reavis Ranch, where we’d camp out for the day. It was Danny and Mikey’s first backpacking trip, so Al and I were pumped to show them the ropes.

From the trailhead it was a steady climb up to the saddle, where the terrain changed from high desert to a microclimate of evergreens.

Right off the trail we found a rad campground with a solid fire pit and benches made from deadfall. By noon camp was established and the chilling commenced!

We spent the day doing manly shit. It was good times. Basically an on trail nero day for me.

For dinner Al had packed out a pound of steak fajitas and sweet peppers. It was a gory ordeal slicing the slab of beef with a pocket knife before cooking it over Al’s tiny stove, but hot damn it was tasty!

Cheers!
