Te Araroa – Day 57

Bushcamp to Bushcamp

17.8 miles

Mile 1551.4

I enjoyed a brilliant sunrise over Lake Ohau as I began my day.

After a brief climb up through forest I popped out above the tree line and continued into the hills.

As I made my way along the tussocks I noticed the peaks still had a light dusting of snow lingering from the storm two days ago.

I began descending into the valley until reaching the Ahuriri River, which I was able to ford without too much trouble.

From the river I passed this 2500 km marker made from bones…creative I suppose?

Not long after I made camp in the grass beside a creek.

Cheers!
