From where I’d camped it was a long uphill grind into the Four Peaks Wilderness.
Fortunately, the views went from good to better as I climbed into the jagged range.
When I reached the top of the climb the trail followed the mountain’s ridge, providing excellent views of Roosevelt Lake and it’s surrounding ranges.
Around noon I arrived at Pigeon Trailhead to find a cache of a few gallons of water, but more importantly, a grocery bag stuffed with two beers and a bottle of Coke! Naturally, I took the beers, but left the Coke for the next hiker.
The beer selection was on point. One was a Hop Knot IPA by Four Peaks Brewing…
While the other was an Arizona Trail Ale by That Brewery…
Very appropriate beers for the setting. Pushing on, I followed a dirt road for a couple hours, before joining a trail that led me back down to the desert valley below.
I ended up making camp alongside Sycamore Creek, where I enjoyed the beers I’d found with a dinner of protein bars and trail mix. Yummy.
Cheers!
