Bushcamp to Bushcamp

With 75 miles to go to reach Pine, I decided to bust out two big days so I could enjoy some R&R at my family’s cabin ASAP. By 4:00 AM I was on the move.
In the predawn darkness I made my way under Highway 87 towards the Mazatzal Wilderness.
This poor rabbit must of had a rough night…
As the sun rose I began my ascent into the mountain range, passing a few old mine shafts as I worked my way up the seemingly endless switchbacks.
When I reached the top I began passing lingering snow drifts as I followed the Mazatzal Divide trail along its scenic ridge.
It was a tough day of big elevation gains and even bigger miles, but the views were incredible.
By 6:00 PM I’d hiked just over 40 miles and was exhausted. This was the first time I hiked a 40 miler since the PCT, so I’m glad to see I still got it. After making camp I scarfed down a quick dinner before passing out hard.
Cheers!
