AZT Day 8 – Oracle Ridge

Molino Basin Campground to Bushcamp

23 miles

Mile 206.8

It felt good sleeping in, finally crawling from my tent at 8:00 AM. We spent an hour or so picking at breakfast and guzzling coffee before packing up and driving me back up to the top of Mt Lemmon. By 10:30 AM I was cruising down Oracle Ridge trail.

The only time I’d hiked this section was in the dark, I had no idea what a scenic hike it was walking along the ridge.

I filled up at the cache I found along the trail, but found the water almost undrinkable due to its overwhelming plastic taste.

As I finished my descent of Mt Lemmon I reached American Flag Trailhead, continuing into Oracle State Park.

The trail meandered along grassy hills until reaching Highway 77, where I topped off my bottles at a cache before heading under the highway.

I followed a dirt road for another thirty minutes before reaching Tiger Mine Road Trailhead.

I setup camp in the dirt parking lot at the trailhead, where I enjoyed an awesome sunset as I munched down dinner from my tent.

Cheers!
