My day started the same way as most, a three hour hike through the dark until sunrise around 6:30am.
As the sun continued to rise it painted the distant clouds in different shades of orange, red and purple.
As my day progressed I found myself meandering up and down along wind swept foothills until I reached another water cache just past 10am.
Once I’d filled up at the cache I began my ascent back up into the mountains. An hour later I was back among the evergreens slowly weaving my way south.
I enjoyed being back among the trees and the shade they provide. When I swung by Robin Bird Spring to collect water for the remainder of the day I ran into a hiker named Gimli. We chatted for a bit before I pushed on.
The final miles of the day brought me down the southern face of the mountain and into its foothills of rolling meadows.
I found a perfect spot for camp, sheltered by large trees with logs to sit on for dinner. While pitching my tent Gimli walked up, and we chatted for a bit before he continued on his way. It become a rather lonely trail, so it’s nice seeing a friendly face once in a while. After dinner I crawled into my tent and found sleep quickly.
Cheers!
