Casa de Luna to Sawmill Campground
20 miles
Mile 498.2
Woke up thirsty as hell with a killer hangover. Case de Luna had been fun, but I was ready to get on the trail. After I packed up I joined the crew out front for some pancakes and coffee. Feeling a bit better, Spikes and I painted rocks to leave our mark at the iconic trail angels house.
Swift is holding my rock…Spikes is on the right.
Hers is better…
Arts and crafts concluded, I signed the bed sheet designated for the 2018 class.
Next, Stretch found a new hiking shirt.
It was a slow goofy morning, but by 9 we were all ready to get walking. Mrs. Anderson was kind enough to take us back to the trail. Spikes, Mike and Swift left first, then KP, Stretch and I followed.
Swift was waiting for us at the trailhead, as he left his trekking poles at the Anderson’s, so KP, Swift, Stretch and I set off together. It felt so great to be back on trail.
Before long we caught up to Spikes and Mike at a spring. We filled our bottles and set out together as a squad.
KP found a massive pine cone…
Around here we decided on a campground and pushed on.
We arrived at the Sawmill Campground around 6. It was windy as hell, so pitching my tent was a real pain. After camp chores were completed, I set about making a fire for our heating pleasure.
We spent the night eating and laughing at silly stories around the campfire. Another solid day with a great group of people.
Cheers!
