South Lake Tahoe Zero Day

I woke up feeling refreshed, but stupid hungry. After showering I gave my mom a call, who’d flied in from Phoenix the night before, to see if she wanted to grab breakfast. An hour later she picked Spikes and I up to head over to Heavenly Village to eat at Driftwood Cafe.
When we arrived there was a wait, so after putting our names down we explored the shopping center a bit. Our first stop was the Nestle Cookie Shop for some much needed coffee. Next, we poked around a few shops before heading back to the cafe.
Once seated I ordered a turkey veggie scramble and a coffee, as well as a waffle with fruit and bacon to share.
It was great catching up with my mom over the incredible food! She even surprised me with a new pair of trekking poles! Once we finished we cruised over to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to drool over their assortment of tasty treats.
I picked up some chocolate truffles for later consumption before heading back to the Nestle shop for some cookies. Spikes bought a cookie ice cream sandwich, which she was nice enough to share.
Next on the agenda was to hit up the Raleys across the street to resupply. On the way we goofed around a bit…
Once we made it to the grocery store I bought what I needed for the next 100 miles to Sierra City…
While Spikes and my mom took selfies with a bear…
Chores done, we dropped our groceries off at the car before heading to Azul for margaritas and nachos. The restaurant had a rad patio where we sat listening to a band jam while enjoying our drinks.
Around 3 my mom dropped Spikes and I off at the house so we could organize our food and take a nap. I’ll be eating real well on my way to Sierra City…
At 6 Spikes, my mom and I went to a sushi joint called Off The Hook for dinner. The sushi was almost as good as our incredible sever, Jessica.
The meal was fantastic, Jessica even comped our beers! We purposely left room for dessert, so on Jessica’s suggestion we went to Baked Bear for ice cream. I got the brownie bowl with a scoop of salted caramel fudge ice cream.
It was crazy good, but I felt fat as hell when I’d finished it. Desserts devoured, we did a bit of window shopping before hopping back in the car to head back to the house. We swung by a CVS on the way so I could print some postcards, before finally making it back to Maddie’s.
Spikes and I said goodnight to my mom, thanking her for an awesome day, and promptly went to bed.
P.s. Shout out to my incredible mom Lisa for flying up to hangout with Spikes and I for the weekend! It was an absolute blast getting fat with you! Love you so very much!
Cheers!
And not a river crossing or snowflake to be seen. Just another day in paradise. Tahoe nice place to be. Lv u G

Thanks Grammy! Love you!
What a fun smilie kind of post. It’s been so neat following you along this journey. Seeing your dailies post and cheer you on. I’m just a fan who appreciates your writing and pictures with a lot of positive attitude and real kind of blog. Your energy always shines through and when you are hurt or upset you put it in a way that’s not negative but taking bad with the good.
Seeing your pictures with Spikes is always fun you both have such an infectious smiles. (Y’all are just cute together … just saying)
