PCT Day 90

Bushcamp to Bushcamp

33.1 miles

Mile 1579.0

Another night of drama with my dying sleeping pad…I’ll guess I’ll call REI when I’m in Etna to see about getting a new one. Spikes and I packed up and got to walking just past 5.

The clouds from the previous night had cleared up, giving way to a gorgeous sunrise as we started our morning.

Shortly after beginning the day we entered into the Trinity Alps Wilderness, named after the granite peaks in the core of the area.

The terrain changed drastically throughout the day, from a sea of volcanic rocks to lush forest to green meadows.

We passed a few lakes throughout the day that tempted me to jump in.

We ended the day with a decent sized climb that primed our appetites for dinner.

We arrived at our campground a bit past 5. It was a nice spot, with a stream nearby and two perfect plots for us to pitch our tents. I made a small fire to chase off the mosquitos as we ate our dinner.

After eating, we hung out for a bit before heading to bed.

Cheers!

  1. The terrain changes always excites me during a hike. Y’all are pushing out the miles despite the sleep. Nice little camp spot you had there and so fortunate on those beautiful weather days.

I so enjoy your little post.

  2. Liked Trinity Alps. Amazing how 30+ miles can change so much. Sure hope you can hook up with an REI outlet. Is snow a thing of the past or just ahead?
Have fun, don’t fall down a mountain, and sleep well🙃

    • Called REI today, new pad will be waiting for me in Ashland! Woot! We shouldn’t have much more snow, maybe a bit in the northern cascades. Love you!
