This morning while going over my map I realized I had more miles still left to cover than time allowed. When I purchased my ticket home last week I misjudged how quickly I’d be moving through this section. I decided I’d hike what I could, and hitch any road walks.
From my camp on North Mavora Lake I continued down its bank, crossed over a suspension bridge and passed by South Mavora Lake.
Shortly after leaving the lakes behind I joined a dirt road where I hitched a solid 20 miles to reach the next portion of the trail through the Takitimu Forest.
Just before dusk I found a neat grassy clearing to make home for the night.
