PCT Day 175

Bushcamp to Bushcamp

23.5 miles (1.5 off trail miles)

Sobo mile 1479.1

Total mileage 4131.7

I slept in until nearly 7am, since the post office wouldn’t be open until 10am. After packing up camp I made my way down to the Sierra Country Store’s patio to make use of their WiFi.

At 8am I headed over to the Red Moose Cafe to grab breakfast, but was disappointed to find them randomly closed for the day. The general store would be open at 9am, so I’d just have to wait for their grill to open.

Back at the store I killed time chatting with two other hikers, Night Watch and Eleven. Once the store opened, I ordered a breakfast burrito and grabbed my resupplying box and winter gear box from the back. Back on the patio, I organized my food and gear. I must say I’m pretty stoked to have my warm layers, despite the extra weight.

Just as I finished getting myself organized my burrito came out. This thing was the Incredible Hulk of breakfast burritos. Look at it. Just look at it!

Two pounds of eggs, potatoes, bacon and cheese later I made my way over to the post office to pickup my last package. I had Swift send me my Zpacks backpack, which he’d grabbed for me in back in Snoqualmie when I’d switched up my packs. I was planning on using it for the Sierra, but ultimately decided to stick with my Superior Wilderness Designs pack, so I mailed it home.

Chores done, I said farewell to Eleven and Night Watch before beginning the 1.5 mile road walk back to the PCT.

By 11:30 I was chugging along back on trail. Other than the food baby I was carrying from finishing that insane burrito, I felt prime!

I absolutely crushed the climb out of Sierra City, and continued to cruise throughout the afternoon.

A bit past 6 I topped off my water at Mule Ear Creek, before banging out the final miles for the night.

Cheers!
