PCT Day 176

Bushcamp to Bushcamp

40.1 miles

Sobo mile 1519.2

Total mileage 4171.8

By 4:30am I was making my way south, feeling prime and jamming out to some classic rock. The additional layers I’d picked up in Sierra City kept me toasty in the cool predawn air.

As the morning progress I made my way past the Peter Grub Hut and up and over Castle Pass, before taking the pedestrian tunnel under I-80.

Next, I crossed Donner Pass and began the long ascent up to Tinkers Knob on the exposed trail.

This section had been blanketed in snow on my way north, now dry, it felt as though I was walking these miles for the first time.

After resting atop Tinkers Knob, the trail brought me down into a canyon and right back up the other side, passing ski lifts as I went.

My final miles of the day were along a scenic ridge line as the sun set behind the mountains to my and Lake Tahoe to my left.

I pitched my tent just past 7pm on the ridge. As I ate my dinner I enjoyed an awesome vista before falling asleep.

P.s. Shout out to Geoff for his generous contribution! The ribeye I demolished at Kennedy Meadows North last night was on you!

Cheers!

  1. Wow, you’re really killin it! Incredible pictures as always. How’s your stomach doing? May I ask what type of camera you use?
