Te Araroa – Day 62

Arrowtown to Bushcamp

19.2 miles

Mile 1658.2

Today’s goal was to get to the start of the next trail at Greenstone Station. This turned out to be a bit of a challenge…

After a 20 mile road walk I reached the beautiful, but tourist crazed Queenstown. From there the trail picks up again on the opposite bank of Lake Wakatipu. Unless you’ve prearranged transportation, your only real option is a 60 mile hitch around the lake. It took four different hitched, but I made it most of the way, having to hike the final 6 miles.

By the time I’d made it to the trail the sun was coming down, so I setup shop on the bank of Greenstone River.

Cheers!
