AZT Day 22 – Lake Mary

Bushcamp to Bushcamp

20.6 miles

Mile 554.3

I slept in until half past seven, which is a rarity for me, but it felt great! I wasn’t in a rush, so I decided to walk the half mile back to Mormon Lake Village to plunder the general store once more before heading out. I grabbed a frozen breakfast burrito called The Bomb to pack out for dinner, hoping it would warm up in my pack throughout the day.

There was a fair amount of snow on my way out of town, but once I reached the flatter highlands things dried out nicely.

After passing through Dairy Springs Campground, the trail began following the old railroad tracks of the Flagstaff Lumber Company.

As the day progressed the terrain became completely flat as the trail meandered through sparsely wooded highlands.

I passed a few small lakes and ponds, before turning off the trail at the Lakeview Campground junction.

I setup shop at one of the campsites near Lake Mary. The campgrounds weren’t open yet, so the spigots were off and the bathrooms locked. I did however have a picnic table, so that was cool.

The Bomb had defrosted perfectly, making for a tasty dinner.

Cheers!
